Security Dialogue was founded by Marek Thee i 1970 under the name Bulletin of Peace Proposals. The aim was to systematically present, compare and discuss ideas, plans and proposals for development, justice and peace[1]. The name of the journal was changed to Security Dialogue in September 1992, a reflection of its increasing academic ambition under the editorship of Magne Barth (1992-1996) and Pavel Baev (1995-2001). Security Dialogue took a new academic turn under J. Peter Burgess, focusing on theoretical analysis, revisiting and recasting the concept of security through new approaches and methodologies.
Security Dialogue is abstracted and indexed in, among other databases: SCOPUS, and the Social Sciences Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, its 2010 impact factor is 1.600, ranking it 9 out of 78 journals in the category ‘International Relations’.[1]
